BlueBird 1-5

We’re building a future where connectivity empowers everyone, everywhere

AST SpaceMobile’s first launch of five commercial satellites is a space mission called BlueBird 1-5.

These first five satellites are built on the success of our in-orbit BlueWalker 3 satellite and will provide U.S. nationwide non-continuous service with over 5,600 cells in premium low-band spectrum, with a planned 10-fold increase in processing bandwidth.

Each BlueBird satellite has a communications array measuring 693 square feet to establish connectivity directly with cell phones via 3GPP-standard frequencies, and in partnership with leading cellular service providers around the world.

5.5 Billion

Cell phone subscribers moving in and out of coverage as they live, work and travel

3.5 Billion

Global population not subscribed to cellular broadband

Multiple

Use cases and potential revenue streams

AST SpaceMobile, along with our partners, are committed to eliminating the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers, and bringing cellular broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

The BlueBird 1-5 satellites — built by AST SpaceMobile in the company’s 185,000 square feet of assembly, integration, and testing space in Midland, Texas — will be the largest commercial communications arrays in low Earth orbit.

In the United States, the key to unlocking ubiquitous coverage lies in utilizing premium 850 MHz low-band spectrum, which offers superior signal penetration in the low band cellular range. AT&T and Verizon together will share with AST SpaceMobile a portion of their respective bands of 850 MHz low-band spectrum to enable nationwide satellite coverage.

AST SpaceMobile will host a live webcast of the BlueBird 1-5 mission.
